Abstract

Kendari City inflation in October 2019 was recorded at -0.59 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 132.76. Nationally, of the 82 cities that calculate inflation, 39 cities recorded deflation and 43 cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Manado (North Sulawesi Province) 1.22 percent with CPI 136.49 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Pematang Siantar (North Sumatra Province) 0.01 percent with CPI 140.89.

Deflation that occurred in Kendari City was caused by a decrease in the price index in the foodstuffs group of 2.32 percent; transport, communication and financial services 0.31 percent; and the health group 0.39 percent. While the groups that experienced an increase were clothing 0.19 percent; education, recreation, and sports group 0.77 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.12 percent; and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.09 percent.
